Meet the Board

Melanie Grant has a passion for live music. She has a B.A.Music from Carleton University in Ottawa and an International Business Diploma from the NSCC in Truro, NS. Melanie has performed in choirs and as a soloist in Toronto, Ottawa, Halifax and Truro. She has taught piano and voice lessons as well as regularly volunteered at the Atlantic Jazz Festival and with Dalhousie Music's annual opera. Melanie has a great respect for all forms of performed music and art. Having built her experience in radio working at Maritime Broadcasting Systems and driven by the rich musical culture in Truro, Melanie has ventured into community radio. She began the TLPAA in 2007 and works closely with a creative and dynamic team of volunteers who, like her, feel that the best way to showcase Truro's local music perfromers of all sorts, is through community radio.

Murdo Messer has a B.A. in English from Memorial University of Newfoundland. A graphic designer by occupation with a passion for wildlife, photography and music. He writes and performs his own songs in the Truro area. He is also a co-founder of the Cobequid Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre (CWRC).

Lisa MacCormackhas a B.Eng in Industrial Engineering from Dalhousie. She is originally from Beaver Bank Nova Scotia but moved to Truro with her husband in 2003 after spending 5 years in Ontario. Having lived in Toronto for 4 years and being able to enjoy live music every night of the week, she is anxious to do so again from the comfort of her home with the launch of this radio station.

Jason Grantis currently pursuing a B.Sc. in Agriculture majoring in Plant Sciences at the NSAC. He plays guitar and harmonica, and composes and sings his own music. He moved to Truro in 2006 with his wife Fran, and has a strong sense of the value of community. He is passionate about the pursuits of music, urban agriculture, physical activity, cooking, and outdoor life. He has a strong desire to move people with his music (art), and endeavors to inspire others to make a difference through personal choice. He believes that the TLPAA has the potential to be a foundation which can unite the community in arts and culture.
